Hey there, you sweet lovebirds!

Creating this episode of The Okoboji Project was incredibly special, and we hope you loved soaking up these stories as much as we loved sharing them.

Below, you’ll find a few snapshots from our couples and a few more that just make your heart soar, with Okoboji shining in the background.

First up, to celebrate the Lodes, we’re sharing a fun feature from Siouxland Proud about the history of Taco House. (We had no idea it opened in 1966!)

And of course, we have the Lippons. It’s funny how “scooping the loop” really hasn’t changed for us locals. Same route, just on foot these days. Here’s a photo of Dennis and Dori on their wedding day, along with some highlights from the loop in the '60s: the Majestic Rink, the Roof Garden, and that unforgettable row by West Lake.

Next up: high school sweethearts Nancy and Jerry Payne. We’ve included a photo of them back in high school, along with a look inside the Majestic Roller Rink where it all began. There’s also a photo from their wedding, five decades (and one long walk back to each other) later. And of course, their song. The one that sums up their love and the promises they made to each other: Walk Through This World With Me by Conway Twitty.

And then we have the Bourrets. We’ve included a map of Gerk’s Resort, where Brad and Sarah spent summers with their friends, and more importantly, where their story first started. There’s also a photo from their prom night (the big flower! the tux! swoon!), and a few more recent snapshots of their beautiful family in South Carolina.

And finally, we have Mark and Sheila Reed. We don’t have photos to share, but their story paints a picture all its own: a chance meeting, a second chance at love, and a life built on Center Lake. Mark and Sheila run Okoboji Wines with their family, and on a recent trip to Spain, he wrote a song for Sheila, still finding new ways to say “I love you,” nearly thirty years in.

He recorded it in Squalbreaker Studios, a boathouse on Center Lake, where we recorded this season. :-) Here are some pictures from our recording day!
